Vehicle Telematics and Performance
VeriLocation has developed a CANbus (Common Area Network) interface for advanced
real-time vehicle telematics and performance monitoring. VL-CANbus takes data straight
from the engine management system and monitors over 120,000 records a minute. It
summarises these into “journey events” for ease of referencing and understanding.
We appreciate that clients want “exception reporting” as well as in-depth analysis
when required.
CANbus interface monitoring allows for the transmission in real time of the following
messages using FMS-standard protocols from various fleet HGVs.
- Fuel used per journey
- MPG
- Over-revving
- Over braking (greater than 1.2 m/s)
- Over torque-ing
- Use of cruise control
- Over speed
- Use of PTO
- Temperatures
- Sensor activations
- Axle weight
- Use of brakes
- Fuel siphoning alert
VL-CANbus is available in the following manufacturer types:
Volvo, Scania, MAN, Mercedes, DAF, LDV, ERF and IVECO.
Benefits:
Information from VL-CANbus enables you to reduce
- Fuel usage
- Maintenance costs
- Unplanned downtime
- Unwanted driving habits
- Fuel theft
Net result = increased profit to the bottom line.
Average HGVs use over £50,000 worth of Derv per annum.
A 5% reduction over five years = £12,500 per vehicle. And this doesn’t take into
account brake wear and tear savings, reduced downtime for maintenance and fuel theft
reductions.
During trials of VL-CANbus our customers have experienced:
- 6-16% reduction
in fuel used
- 2-10% on reduction in operational costs
- Return on investment achieved
within 6 to 12 months
