New GPS-tracked panic alarm has built-in microphone

February 2009

Employers worried about the safety of staff working alone in the field can now listen to their conversations in the event of an emergency.

VeriLocation’s latest satellite-tracked panic alarm the Guardian Ranger contains a built-in microphone.

It can be activated at any time by dialing the device and listening in.

When an employee presses the panic button in an emergency, an urgent alert is sent out with their current position.

This information is easily accessed through an internet browser.

Their employer can then phone their Guardian Ranger and listen to what is actually happening, before deciding what action to take.

There are no “Big Brother” concerns with the device, as the microphone can be easily deactivated by the person carrying it at any time.

While the Guardian Ranger is intended primarily as a personal safety device, it can also be used to track vehicles and assets.

It costs just £1 a day to run.
