Application protects company from drivers who break the rules

February 2009

A new “duty of care” application developed by VeriLocation is giving one of its clients information to help it enforce strict driving rules among its employees.

The application was developed for the Roger Bullivant Group, the largest foundation engineering company in the UK.

It works with VeriLocation’s VL-Fleet system to monitor how long drivers have been driving in one stint.

The company requires drivers to stop for a rest at least every two and a half hours.

Now if drivers break this rule they are notified by the system, which also sends an alert to managers.

This helps managers comply with recent health and safety legislation, which places extra emphasis on the actions or non-actions of a manager in the event of someone being hurt.

Managers will be able to demonstrate what they do with information about drivers breaking the rules in real time, and their ability to take immediate action – no matter where the driver and vehicle are.
