Alan Shearer and Adrian Chiles tracked by VeriLocation

13th-14th March 2008

The tracking system, which works via a BlackBerry with a built-in GPS chip set, will enable members of the public to follow the two intrepid cyclists' progress click here.

VeriLocation managing director, Andrew Overton explains, "The task Alan and Adrian are undertaking is mammoth, especially given the weather at the moment. All the experts have told Alan and Adrian that they're crazy to even attempt such a challenge, so they are going to need all the support they can get. We were delighted to be able to help out by setting up this easy to use tracking system that will enable members of the public to know exactly where they are throughout the day and night." This means that there will be far more support along the route cheering them on to success and we hope it will encourage many more people to put their hands in their pockets and contribute to this fantastic charity. "Alan and Adrian will each carry a BlackBerry, but because it is a small lightweight device, it will not impede either of the riders. Throughout the 335.7 mile ride the public will be able to see their speed as they track their progress. ”Alan and Adrian will set off on this crazy challenge on 13th March from St James' Park in Newcastle and aim to pedal 186 miles over some challenging terrain on day one. Then all(!) they have to do on the second day is a mere 149 miles from Burton on Trent, via Adrian’s beloved West Brom, to the BBC's Television Centre in London.
