When David Cooling, an Account Director at Atos Origin, had his company car stolen from outside a Nottingham hotel he called VeriLocation to locate it quickly and easily. The car had been fitted with one of the first VL-Fleet GPS tracking devices some three years ago for demonstration purposes but it proved invaluable when David needed to find his car.
David explained: "When I realised the vehicle was missing I phoned the police straightaway. Then I thought of the VL-Fleet GPS tracking device which had been installed when I was working on a project with VeriLocation. I hadn't used it for a couple of years and it was late in the evening but I gave Andrew Overton at VeriLocation a call in case it was still working. Andrew logged into the system, then called me back to tell me what time my car had been driven away and where it was. I notified the police and they recovered my car less than an hour later. It was taken away for finger-printing and returned to me the next day."
David continues: "This has re-enforced my view of vehicle tracking - I think every company car should be fitted with a tracking device. They are very powerful tools. I was lucky, and very grateful to Andrew for returning my call at 11pm. But if I'd had a proper contract with VeriLocation, I could have just logged onto the internet to find out when and where my car had gone. It had been parked in a residential street so may not have been found for days. This has saved us a lot of hassle and greatly reduced the costs to the insurance company."
