Following demand from a number of key customers, VeriLocation has now released a PDA based Proof of Delivery (POD) solution called DMS ( Delivery Management System)

Four bike riders in early June from the Royal Navy Strike Command will undertake a mammoth UK wide ride to all UK navy facilities to raise money for the Help for Heroes campaign.

VeriLocation’s contactless CANbus system will make its world debut at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Operator Show on in Hall 5, Stand 5028.

Thanks to innovative new technology, the CANbus system now requires no intrusive ECU surgery whatsoever, making the need to open up control systems to enable fleet monitoring a thing of the past.

VeriLocation has won another new vehicle telematics contract with a large haulage provider.

Mainland Group, based in Northampton, has had the full VL-CANbus vehicle telematics system fitted to 52 vehicles in its fleet.

And the systems could then be rolled out to the rest of the company’s fleet in 2010.

A new smaller trailer tracking device with a longer battery life has just been launched by VeriLocation.

The revised VL-Trailer uses GPS satellite tracking to fix its location, and reports it once a day using the mobile phone networks to send data.

Should the trailer be stolen, the device can be remotely “woken up”, and will then communicate its location every second. It can be viewed in real time on a map, on any computer connected to the internet.

VeriLocation has beaten a number of other technology firms to the Innovation Award at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards 2009.

The award was judged by Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited. Judges commented that they were impressed by the sheer number of innovative solutions VeriLocation has developed, each one at the forefront of GPS telematics both in the UK and worldwide.

VeriLocation has been shortlisted for two awards in the upcoming Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards.

The company is a finalist for both the Innovation award, and the International Trader of the Year award.

Ambulances run by a private company are being fitted with VeriLocation’s GPS tracking systems that will help protect staff and patients.

Ambulance (GB) Limited has started using a version of its VL-Fleet tracking and auditing system.

It tracks the exact position of the vehicles in real time and allows managers to view the locations on any computer connected to the internet.

Family firm EM Rogers implemented Verilocation's VL-CANbus in 17 of it's vehicles, covering it's European and UK haulage and covered car transport. The company was concerned at the mounting price of fuel in 2008 and knew that some drivers were consistently more fuel-efficient than others.

Transport administrator Sarah Rogers says: "We've had the system in since September 2008, monitoring CAN-bus information. It allows us to see where there is harsh braking, idling, etc. That's our main interest in using the system. It's so much more valuable than just seeing where people are and sending them messages."

So does Charlie Mullins, founder of Pimlico Plumbers. “Our business relies on getting plumbers and heating engineers to our customers all over Greater London as quickly as possible. So with a fleet of more than 100 service vehicles, any savings we can make, especially during times of high fuel prices, are very important."

“Our biggest fuel-saving tool is the hi-tech tracking system we have installed in all our vehicles. The location of all our vans appears on a big screen in our call centre, showing us where all our plumbers are, so when a job comes in, the nearest available engineer is sent straight out to the customer.

“Since we’ve put this system in, made by Verilocation, we’ve significantly cut travelling time and fuel bills, and there’s been the knock- on effect that arrival times have come down to as little as ten minutes.”

VeriLocation have now completed the development work necessary to link an in vehicle dash mounted Garmin Sat Nav to VL-Fleet with the benefit of using the Garmin device with it’s colour screen to send and receive messages and routes from the VeriLocation website interface to the driver using just the one integrated system. Drivers are then able to respond using stored messages or free type which then is sent back to the VeriLocation customer account and makes an audible chime alerting of a message received. A typical example would be where a job comes into the VL-Fleet customers office which can then be sent to the identified driver / field engineer in real time via a description and route. The driver just has to accept the route and follow the onscreen instructions as normal but without having to enter the address which can be time consuming and prone to mis-entry.
