Need to save on fuel costs? So does Charlie Mullins, founder of Pimlico Plumbers. “Our business relies on getting plumbers and heating engineers to our customers all over Greater London as quickly as possible. So with a fleet of more than 100 service vehicles, any savings we can make, especially during times of high fuel prices, are very important."

“Our biggest fuel-saving tool is the hi-tech tracking system we have installed in all our vehicles. The location of all our vans appears on a big screen in our call centre, showing us where all our plumbers are, so when a job comes in, the nearest available engineer is sent straight out to the customer.

“Since we’ve put this system in, made by Verilocation, we’ve significantly cut travelling time and fuel bills, and there’s been the knock- on effect that arrival times have come down to as little as ten minutes.”
